Blogging about Facebook

Admitedly, I was opposed to blogs when I initially heard about them. I thought they were self-indulgent, less than honest, and just ways to escape reality and call it 'relationship' when even relationships in the blog-world were rarely true relationships. Of course, my mind was changed - because of some good counter-arguments: Blogs enable me to keep up some form of contact with people from my previous church (at least in theory :) ), are a place to explore ideas, practice verbalising illustrations for sermons, and generally reflect on life in a way that helps me and encourgaes others.

I'm inviting any die-hard believers to try and bring this conceptual shift to my view on facebook.

At the moment, it seems to me to be: a popularity contest (spare me), a form of acceptable online voyerism, and a way to keep people at a relational distance by not having to share much while at the same time claiming you are keeping up more relationships than ever before (and Ive heard lots of people say that's exactly why they like it, now they dont have to write whole emails, just a few one-liners every now and then).

But being proven wrong can be one of the most liberating things in life - so please help me see the error of my ways!! I might even join if Im convinced...
